Cornish Constitutional Convention

A Cornish Mining Theme park? Recent proposed developments like Heartlands at Robinson's Shaft, Pool, have raised concerns in the way that Cornish culture is being interpreted and promoted.

What is the Cornish Constitutional Convention?

The Convention is a cross-party, cross-sector organisation that campaigns for devolution of power to Cornwall and for a genuine recognition of Cornwall as a distinct region with a unique identity.

Who’s who in the Convention?

The Convention Chairman Cllr Bert Biscoe heads a steering group of Cornish politicians including Andrew George MP. Additionally, the convention has a broadly based membership of subscribers who support the Campaign for a Cornish Assembly.

When, Why, How?

It is because the potential of Cornwall cannot be realised with the current limited allocation of powers and because important decisions are increasingly being taken outside the Duchy that the Cornish Constitutional Convention was formed to drive the campaign for a Cornish Assembly forward. Fifty thousand individuals registered that: ‘we, the people of Cornwall must have a greater say in how we are governed’. The Convention’s continuing objective is a Cornish Assembly based on the Welsh model.
